Brownie vs. Fudge

What’s the difference between fudge and brownies?

In a nutshell:

Fudge belongs to the category of candy. It’s basically very sweet chocolate.

Brownies are the mini version of a cake.

Ingredients

Fudge doesn’t contain very much besides chocolate, sweetened condensed milk and if you want some inclusions like nuts, marshmallows, cookies, cacao nibs, peanut butter, dried fruit and so on.

Whereas brownies contain cacao powder (no chocolate!), flour, eggs, butter or oil, baking powder and nuts.

Texture

Fudge is dense and soft, almost like cream cheese.

Brownies are fluffy - just like cake.

Instructions

Chocolate and condensed milk in fudge need to be melted in a pan, the other ingredients get included. No baking at all! Just transfer mass into a dish and leave it the refrigerator over night.

All brownie ingredients need to get mixed in a bowl, transferred into a baking dish and baked for 20-30 minutes at 375°F.
